Rich Shorten, Chairman

Rich Shorten is Managing Member of Silvermine Capital Resources, LLC, an alternative asset management firm that originates, structures and manages private investment transactions with a particular focus in the telecommunications, alternative energy and related technology sectors. Silvermine is the investment manager for Comstock Holdings. Mr. Shorten also serves on the board of Cinchcast Inc., and has previously served on the boards of several private and public companies, including companies listed on the NYSE, NASDAQ and AMEX. Among these are AboveNet Corporation, First Avenue Networks, Inc., Mpower Holding Corporation, Norwood Promotional Products, Inc., Enterprise Informatics, Inc., Realigent, Inc. and Movie Gallery, Inc. From 1997 to 2000, Mr. Shorten was a senior vice president with Destia Communications and its acquirer, Viatel, Inc. He began his career as a corporate finance and M&A attorney at the New York law firm of Cravath, Swaine and Moore
Mike Ward, President & CEO

Mike Ward joined Infinia in April 2011 as Chief Executive Officer and was appointed President and CEO in March 2012. Prior to joining Infinia, Mr. Ward served as President of Autoliv, ASP Inc., a division of Autoliv, Inc. (NYSE: ALV), the global leader in automotive occupant safety solutions. With responsibility for the Americas, one of the company’s largest operating divisions, Mr. Ward led more than 13,000 employees producing $2.1 billion in revenue. He had previously served as the president for the North American region; and during his 25-year tenure played key engineering, sales, and operating roles as Autoliv successfully pushed for industry-wide adoption of airbag systems. Mr. Ward was inducted into the prestigious Shingo Academy in 2010 for his longtime commitment to implementing lean principles driving operational excellence. Mr. Ward holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University and Louisiana State University, respectively.
Paul Bossidy

Paul Bossidy is CEO of Clayton Holdings LLC. Prior to joining Clayton in October 2008, Mr. Bossidy was a Senior Operations Executive and Operations Partner at Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. He led a number of businesses during his 13-year tenure with the General Electric Company in his roles as President and CEO of GE Lighting (North America), President and CEO of GE Capital, Vendor Financial Services Group and President and CEO of GE Commercial Equipment Financing. Mr. Bossidy holds a bachelor’s degree from Williams College, a master’s in accounting from New York University, and an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
Greg Flanagan

Greg Flanagan is Independent Director of Equus Total Return, Inc. He served as the Chairman of the Board, CEO and President of the Fund from July 2009 to February 2010. From 2003 to 2008, Mr. Flanagan was Chief Operations Officer of Gallagher Healthcare, Inc., an international insurance broker. He also has more than 20 years of commercial banking experience. Mr. Flanagan graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in economics and holds an MBA from the University of Michigan.
Chris Kolenaty

Chris Kolenaty is Solar Business Developer at Kirloskar Integrated Technologies Limited. Formerly an investment banker specializing in mergers & acquisitions in New York City, Mr. Kolenaty worked with Merrill Lynch & Co. and Centerview Partners. Mr. Kolenaty graduated magna cum laude from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in applied math and economics.
Joost Schellens

Joost Schellens is a partner and co-founder of the Atlas Global group, a London based investment manager. He has a long track record of investing at GLG Partners LP, Goldman Sachs’ Special Situations Group and Morgan Stanley’s Real Estate Private Equity Fund. In addition to his Infinia board role, Mr. Schellens also serves on the Board of Directors of ViSole Energy. He holds a master’s degree in finance from Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
Joseph Weisiger

Joseph Weisiger has extensive senior executive and board level experience in private and publicly-held organizations, profitably developing and managing over 30 major international and domestic-based operations. He has been accountable for technology, manufacturing and market share acquisitions worldwide as well as establishing key partnerships, licensees, joint venture companies and grass-roots businesses throughout China, India, Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and the U.S. He has held senior executive leadership roles at major international companies such as the Sundstrand Corporation, Sullair Corporation, Ingersoll-Rand Company, AdobeAir Holdings Inc, and Kohler Company. Mr. Weisiger served as President of Kohler Power Systems from 2000 – 2007, leading its power systems businesses in the manufacture and distribution of a wide range of generators and power-related technologies.
Gen. Thomas White (Ret.)

General Thomas White served as a commissioned officer in the United States Army for 23 years, rising to the rank of Brigadier General. He concluded his service as Executive Officer to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, retiring from Active Duty in July 1990. Under President George W. Bush, General White served as Secretary of the U.S. Army from 2001 – 2003, leading the Army through 9/11 and the initiation of combat missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Gen. White has extensive experience in the energy industry, leading several operating subsidiaries of Enron Corp., and is a Founding/Managing Partner of DKRW Energy.

Jos van der Hyden, Chief Commercial Officer

Jos van der Hyden joined Infinia in March 2013 as Chief Commercial Officer. Mr. Van der Hyden is a veteran of the solar power industry, joining Infinia following a career with market-leading solar industry suppliers Canadian Solar and First Solar. As First Solar’s Vice President of Business Development for the Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia (EMEAA) regions, Mr. Van der Hyden built key partnerships with energy companies and project developers to expand the market for photovoltaic modules. Prior to First Solar, Mr. Van der Hyden served as General Manager EMEA of Plug Power, a provider of energy solutions based on hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. He has extensive commercial experience within the energy and telecommunications industries and consulted with leading companies on market analysis, mergers & acquisitions, and international business expansion while at McKinsey & Company. Mr. Van der Hyden is a native of the Netherlands and holds a master’s degree from Delft University of Technology and an MBA from INSEAD.
Jeffrey Williams, Chief Financial Officer
Jeff Williams joined Infinia in January 2012 as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to Infinia, Mr. Williams held various positions with companies in the biotech and medical technology areas. Mr. Williams most recently served as President and CEO, Addicere Therapeutics, and President of Alexza Pharmaceuticals Singapore LTD. He is also a General Partner in Summit Life Science Partners, an early stage venture fund focused on medical device startups, and serves on the board of directors of several of Summit Life Science Partners’ portfolio companies. Mr. Williams has been involved with multiple start-up companies, raising private and public capital, transitioning companies from private to public entities and developing strategic collaborations with international partners. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a master’s of management science degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Kris Bessinger, Chief Operations Officer
Kris Bessinger joined Infinia in June 2011 as Chief Operating Officer. Ms. Bessinger has more than 27 years of proven leadership experience in operations, material control and human resource management. Prior to Infinia, Ms. Bessinger spent 17 years at Autoliv ASP, Inc., where she held a variety of leadership positions including Plant Manager, Director of Kaizen Systems and Vice President of Human Resources and Administration for the Americas. Ms. Bessinger has a strong background in the development and implementation of lean business systems and previously served on the board of directors of the Utah Manufacturing Association from 2003 – 2009. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and business and an interdisciplinary master’s degree in economics, business and human resource management from Utah State University.
Maury White, Chief Technology Officer
Maury White is the company’s principal founder and served as president when Infinia was formed in June 1985 as a technology transfer spin-off from the University of Washington (UW). He was appointed Chief Technology Officer in 2003. Mr. White’s 40-year career has been dedicated to the development and continuous improvement of free-piston Stirling machines. His free-piston Stirling activities began in 1962 at North American Rockwell. He subsequently spent more than 20 years developing free-piston machines at McDonnell Douglas and the UW for a variety of applications, but primarily focused on a power source for a fully implantable artificial heart. The artificial heart work initiated technology innovations such as flexure bearings integrated with clearance seals that eliminate all rubbing parts and have enabled unprecedented long-life, maintenance-free generators for a variety of applications. Mr. White holds 10 patents related to Stirling cycle machines and has published more than 50 papers in the field. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physics from Harvey Mudd College and the University of California Los Angeles, respectively.
Karl Rink, VP Engineering & Development
Dr. Karl Rink joined Infinia in August 2011 as Vice President, Engineering and Development. He was previously employed by Solar Turbines Incorporated where he was responsible for the design, development, and testing of gas turbine combustion systems and components. Following this role, Dr. Rink was employed by Autoliv, where he developed advanced airbag inflation technologies. In 2001, he accepted a position as Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Idaho. Dr. Rink is active in the Combustion Institute, the International Pyrotechnics Society (IPS), and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), where he recently served as chair of the Energetic Systems and Components Technical Committee. He was named an Outstanding Mechanical Engineer by Purdue University in 2000 and an Associate Fellow of AIAA in 2007. Dr. Rink received his bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering and mechanics from the University of Minnesota, his master’s in engineering from Purdue University and his PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Utah.
Guy Letendre, VP Business Development
Mr. Letendre joined Infinia in 2010 bringing significant business development, operations and product engineering experience. Previously, Mr. Letendre served as Vice President of Development Engineering for Autoliv’s North American Airbag Group, which generated approximately $1.5 billion in annual revenues and two prestigious Pace Awards, which honors superior innovation, and his group won the Shingo Prize for manufacturing excellence. While at Autoliv, Letendre also served as managing director of an airbag manufacturing facility in The Netherlands. Letendre also served as Senior Director of Supply Chain for Alexza Pharmaceuticals where he established an international joint venture. Mr. Letendre has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University and a Masters in Business from Utah State University.
